NCAA Betting Lines: Utah Utes and Arizona State Sun Devils

Arizona State Sun Devils expects to have leading scorer and rebounder Trent Lockett back from an ankle injury after going 1-5 in his absence. Not having Lockett’s leadership and all-around abilities have furthered the Sun Devils’ decline into one of the Pac-12’s worst squads. Utah Utes can relate to Arizona State’s woes as the Utes are one of two conference teams faring even worse. The Utes have lost four straight games since allowing a season-low point total while routing the Sun Devils 64-43 in Salt Lake City on Jan. 21. Junior forward Cedric Martin made five 3-pointers as Utah was 9 of 17 from behind the arc and led by as many as 28 points.

The Sun Devils have opened as 11-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
Arizona State Sun Devils (7-16): The Sun Devils are beginning a stretch where they play five of seven games at home. That’s good news after a road excursion to Stanford and California that resulted in back-to-back losses by 20-plus points. The earlier loss to Utah was the second game that Lockett missed due to his injury. The junior averages 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds while playing 35 minutes per game. Arizona State averaged just 52.2 points while Lockett was sidelined after scoring an average of 64.0 with him. Junior wing Carrick Felix scored a team-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the loss to Utah.
Utah Utes (5-18): The Utes are 0-8 on the road and their average margin of defeat is 24.6 points in five conference road contests. Six of Utah’s eight losses are by 20 or more points. The Utes lost 76-58 to Oregon State last Saturday despite solid efforts from Martin (19 points) and junior center Jason Washburn, who had 15 points and a career-high eight blocked shots. Washburn is averaging 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds. Utah committed a season-worst 23 turnovers against Oregon State, with freshman point guard Kareem Storey committing nine.
1. Utah leads the series 26-17 and has won the last two meetings.
2. Arizona State freshman guard Jonathan Gilling has a sprained left thumb that could hinder his shooting.
